Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful counties in the world! It's lush landscape, culture, and adventure is one to put on your radar for travel! There are several areas to visit, however this trip to Los Suenos was one for the books! We traveled post Covid and felt very safe!

COVID RESTRICTIONS: Traveling to Costa Rica tourists must acquire mandatory travel insurance that covers lodging in the event of quarantine as well as medical expenses due to contracting COVID-19. To return to the US you must have a negative Covid test. The Marriott in Los Suenos has testing on site, but you need to pre schedule as they have limited availability.

We stayed at the Marriott in Los Suenos on the vacation club side. This section is brand new and very nice (and affordable!). The Marriott is GREAT and has everything you need as far as restaurants, pools, beach, golf, spa, gym, kids club, hourly activities, and fantastic service. It's next door to the marina where you find more restaurants and a little shopping too. You can book your off site activities right through their Adventure team on site.

Costa Rica has so many options for activities for all age levels! I will give you a rundown of what we did.

Zip lining was a top priority for our 10 year old...so we made it possible! Both girls ages 7 and 10 LOVED soaring high in the sky! The views were beautiful and you went up to 40 MPH. It's a 5 min ride from the hotel and a 2 hour adventure. They said ages 6 and up were welcome. Wear your sunscreen and bug spray!

The next adventure was Dads favorite...Fishing! We rented a charter right off Los Suenos Marina and Lilly caught her first Sailfish! It was a beautiful day (as it always is), calm flat waters, and the fish were plentiful. We used Captain Tom on Dreamwork. If you use them tell them Mike Ivancevic sent you! Enjoy because on the adventure you will typically see spinner dolphin, manta rays, Tuna, Friggates, Mahi, Sailfish, and Marlin!! It's a treat each and every time I have been out! Pro tips: if you think you get sea sick take a dramamine the evening prior to going out and one first thing in the morning. Lots of sunscreen is a must! Lastly, if you catch Mahi or Tuna bring it over to the Sushi restaurant at the marina to have them prepare it for you!

If your a horse lover this one is for you! You ride the horses down a long path to a sliding rock waterfall. The girls did this adventure when they were 5 and 7! It was a blast and the waterfall is fed into a fresh spring. We wore our bathing suits under our clothes and then shed the suits and put our workout clothes back on for a dry ride on the way back to the barn. Bring a towel to dry off!

Who wants to see the monkeys? This is my FAVORITE! Enjoy a tour of nature in the mangroves where you can see snakes, monkeys, different types of iguanas, sloths and great diversity of birds. The tour can be by boat or kayak. Crazy Alex is the best guide as he "speaks" 200+ different animal languages (you will understand once on the adventure). If your not on Facebook you can check out his website here. This tour is about 45 min from Los Suenos and will need to take a cab, our guy is Jonathan +50662180033 (I'll talk about him a bit later, but he's fantastic). This tour is in Quepos and lasts 2 hours.

On our first family adventure we also toured Manuel Antonio National Park in Quepos. We had a guided tour to point all of the animals hidden in the trees, and ended the tour at the beach where while monkeys roamed and we cooled off.

What is a Costa Adventure without surfing? We headed into Jaco and took private lessons from Mauricio and Nacho! The girls got up on their first try and surfed the day away! Our driver hooked us up with this recommendation! Mauricio can be found on Instagram at @JacoSurfClublessons_ Don't go out in that sun without lathering in SunScreen!!

We have left a few other fun activities for our next trip such as ATVing, White Water Rafting, Hiking, and so much more!!

Now that your ready to vacation at Los Suenos the question is, "How do we get there?" If leaving from South Florida you can either take a direct a Jet Blue flight from Ft. Lauderdale or American from Miami into San Jose. We always contact Johnathan prior to arrival to arrange a taxi ride from San Jose to Los Suenos. He will be waiting with a sign to help you get your bags and get you comfortably into his 10 passenger van stocked with drinks of your choice. It's an hour and a half ride to Los Suenos. If you want cocktails in your room grab some liquor and wine at the airport!

Make sure to ask to stop at the alligator bridge on the way!

IF you like an uphill walk (More like a hike) to see lots of nature then you need to take the walk about half a mile down the road from the Marriott, Vista Tres Bahias (ask the front desk to direct you)...and YES you must go all the way up! I suggest the morning or around 4-5pm because that's when the monkeys tend to be out. Watch for monkeys, Macaws, and Tucans. There is a gate but walk right past it ;)

Enjoy! If you have more questions please don't hesitate to reach out! Pura Vida!!
